Lombe IIungu, once a poacher in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), now protects the same species he once hunted. As an eco-guard with the Mai Ndombe REDD+ Project, he uses his deep knowledge of the forest to safeguard endangered species like forest elephants, bonobos, and pangolins in the Congo Basin, the world’s second-largest rainforest.
